 Almost
a quarter of a million records of proteas
Note that the alien invader is the nineth most common protea!
These data are from almost 60 thousand localities
Although less than 500 atlassers contributed to the project, when one takes into
account their walking companions, the fact that some atlassers were teams, and the fact
that mountain and hiking clubs, and botanical and other socieites went on expiditions to
look for proteas, we had well over 1000 participants who collected data. Nevermind, all
those who helped in other ways, including farmers, land owners, flower show exibitors and
others.
Over 250 hybrids - more than 100 of which are new to science.
Almost 1800 common names to proteas, most of which had never been compiled before.
And a lot more, in terms of alerting authorities to problems (e.g. Protea
odorata), contributing data, etc. |
