One
would think that trees of all plants would be well known. After all we have a
Dendrological Society and a Tree Society and they have been doing atlas work in the past.
However, Brabejum stellatifolium, the Wild Almond, is a well-known tree and we
have extended and filled in its distribution markedly. Not only have we increased the
number of grid squares from 23 to 93 - almost four times more!, but we have extended its
distribution to the north and east, and found new populations from Piketberg, Gifberg,
Bokkeveld and many more places. Note we still have an unatlassed herbarium record (open
circle) from Greyton. |
