Habit: An erect shrub up 1.2m tall
Fire survival: Killed, only seeds survive
Sexual system: Flowers of one sex on separate plants

Fruit: Dropped to gound after two months ripening
Seed dispersal: Ants
Seed storage: Underground in ants nests
Rarity status: Rare, once thought to be extinct but occurs in dense stands
Habitat: Fynbos / Renosterbos ecotone, 300-700m
Distribution: Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains from Tradouw Pass to George and Rooiberg
